The seminar will be taught in English. It will begin by introducing Science and Technology Studies (STS) through Katherine Hayles’ account of the history of cybernetics, with a particular focus on systems thinking in technological development. We will then explore the specific characteristics of feminist STS by engaging with Donna Haraway’s pioneering writings on situated knowledge and her *Cyborg Manifesto*. Here, the cyborg is understood as a boundary-crossing hybrid of human and machine, but also as a figure that radically reconsiders the possibility of separating technology from the organism. These different approaches and ways of thinking will be explored, illustrated, and collectively discussed through numerous examples of technological innovation, including ChatGPT, autonomous weapons systems, and crash-test dummies.
